Roger Cabello — Lima, Peru, 1963
Roger Cabello is a photographer born in Lima, Peru, in 1963.
He moved to Queens, New York, at the age of 14 and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1985.
Roger began his career in 1988 with GQ magazine and was first published in Vogue in 1989. He worked for Vogue for five years, primarily photographing accessories.
In 2000, he commenced his role as the primary cosmetic still-life photographer for Allure magazine, a position he held for 15 years. During this period, he developed abstract cosmetic compositions that prioritize texture, form, and pigment—an approach that has since become widely adopted within the beauty industry.
In addition to his work at Allure, Roger has extensive international editorial experience, collaborating with publications such as Vogue China, Allure Russia, and Vogue India, among others. He has also worked with major beauty brands including Estée Lauder, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Michael Kors, and others.
Now entering his 38th year in business, Roger continues to accept select photographic assignments and is currently working on a series of limited-edition prints.
Roger is privileged to announce an artistic collaboration with the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco, entitled “Bertha, Fotos para mi madre.”
The culmination of this project will be presented in Lima, Peru.
In parallel, he is developing new original hybrid motion work that expands his long-standing exploration of abstraction and materiality.
Roger Cabello is based in New York City.
